Class 6DA, 2014-15
Welcome to 6DA with Mr Adfield (Deputy Head), Mrs Fermor (LSA) and Mr Marsh (LSA and sports coach).
We have had a busy and exciting start to the Autumn term and are settling well into life at the top of the school! With that has come high expectations, not only in the standard and quality of our work but also in the way we conduct ourselves to set a great example for the rest of the school. We aspire to achieve our best, take pride in our work and treat others with respect and kindness. Our new house captains, (Logan, Emanuel, Harry and Callum) will be working hard to encourage the best from their Houses and new members of the school council (Tally) will be looking at ways we can improve our school.
In literacy we have looked at classic texts such as 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll, written non-chronological reports and created and performed our own fantastic poems. In maths we have been measuring ourselves and presenting the data in different ways; collecting data about the traffic around and measured car speeds with a police speed gun!. We have also been looking at electricity and we can create circuits.
Year 6 have already been on lovely trip to the Taunton Museum in connection with the centenary of World War 1. We dressed up in clothes from the period, wrote letters and explored artefacts linked to the Great War. A number of children have also been lucky enough to visit Yeo Valley farm where they got to meet Michael Morpurgo and ask him questions about his work.
A great start to the year!
