Welcome to our Year 4 page. This is a rewarding and engaging stage of learning, where children build on their existing knowledge, grow in independence and continue developing as confident learners within lower Key Stage 2.
Our Year 4 team includes Mrs Richards, Miss Yard, Mrs Clutterbuck and Ms McBride (maternity cover), along with our Learning Support Assistants: Mrs Bartley, Miss Firminger and Miss O’Grady. We work collaboratively to provide a supportive and inclusive environment, adapting our teaching to meet the needs of every child so that all pupils are encouraged to succeed and reach their full potential.Children continue to build confidence in reading, writing and mathematics, while taking part in a broad and engaging curriculum designed to inspire creativity and enjoyment in learning.
Year 4 pupils will take part in the Multiplication Tables Check in June, which assesses their knowledge of times tables. We place a strong emphasis on learning and practising times tables, as this is an important part of developing children’s confidence and ability in mathematics.
We use ClassDojo as our main communication platform, so please contact a member of the Year 4 team if you have any questions.

Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) Information
All Year 4 pupils in England take part in the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). This is a short, online check set by the government for children in state-funded schools.
The purpose of the check is to see how confidently children can recall their times tables up to 12 × 12. It consists of 25 quick questions, which children answer on a computer. Being secure in times tables is an important skill, as it supports many areas of maths learning as children move through school.
The check helps teachers understand which children are confident with their times tables and who may need a little extra support.
We will carry out the check during a two-week window from Monday 1st June to Friday 12th June.
We aim to make this a relaxed and positive experience for the children, and they will be well prepared and supported in school.
