7ES
Welcome to 7ES - The Hub Class
Class Teacher: Mrs Snow
LSA: Miss Winter
LSA: Mrs Selway
In 7ES, we recognise that every child is unique. The Hub class was created to provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for children with a wide range of needs. Our approach is rooted in compassion and respect, celebrating each child's individuality while supporting their personal growth.
Children in 7ES come from various Key Stage 2 year groups and either have, or are in the process of receiving, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). These plans guide us in designing a personalised curriculum that is tailored to each child's academic and social-emotional needs.
We work closely with the school SENCO, external agencies and families to ensure that every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Autumn 25i
English
This half term, we will be exploring Leon and the Place Between by Grahame Baker-Smith - a beautifully illustrated text that celebrates imagination, wonder, and the power of belief. It encourages children to embrace curiosity and explore the unknown through rich language and magical storytelling. Alongside this, we will be supporting reading fluency and confidence through targeted interventions such as Dyslexia Gold and Toe by Toe, ensuring every child can access and enjoy the text at their own pace.
Maths
This half term, we will focus on number recognition, counting, place value, addition and subtraction. Through hands-on activities, interactive games and practical problem-solving, children will build confidence with numbers. We will also be using targeted interventions such as Plus 1 and Power of 2 to support fluency and understanding, alongside Mastering Number to strengthen early number sense and mental maths strategies. These skills lay the foundation for success across the curriculum and in everyday life.
Science
Children will be diving into the fascinating world of rocks and soils. They will learn how different rocks are formed, compare their properties, and investigate how soil is made. Through hands-on experiments, children will observe changes, test materials, and discover how rocks and soils are used in everyday life.
PE
Children in 7ES have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. On these days, they should arrive at school wearing their PE kits, which they will stay in for the whole day.
Homework
Weekly homework will begin once children have been fully baselined and we have a clear picture of their starting points. In the meantime, we encourage regular reading at home and involvement in everyday life skill activities to support their development ad independence.
