7ES

Welcome to 7ES

Class teacher: Mrs Snow

LSA: Miss Winter

LSA: Mrs Selway

7ES, also known as the 'Hub' class, was created to support and enhance the understanding of children with diverse needs. It offers and inclusive environment that values and celebrates the differences of each child, with a nurturing approach at the heart of its pedagogy.

The children in 7ES come from various KS2 year groups, and each has, or is in the process of obtaining, an EHCP. The targets outlined in their EHCP shape a bespoke, individualised curriculum that is tailored to meet each child's unique academic and/or SEMH needs.

Spring 25i

English

This half term, we will be exploring The Baker by the Sea by Paula White. Baker by the Sea promotes themes of kindness, perseverance, creativity, and community - valuable life lessons for children.

Maths

This half term, we will focus on multiplication, division, and fractions. Children will develop key math skills for problem-solving and critical thinking. Multiplication helps them understand repeated addition and work with larger numbers. Division teaches them how to split things evenly, promoting fairness. Learning fractions shows how numbers can be divided into equal parts.

These skills encourage logical thinking, help children with everyday tasks like sharing, and build confidence for tackling more complex math challenges.

Science

This term, children will learn about the properties and changes in materials. They will explore solids, liquids, and gases, and their characteristics like hardness, flexibility, and conductivity. Children will study how materials change with heat, cold, or pressure, and learn about reversible and irreversible changes. Through experiments, they will observe these changes and discover how materials can be combined to make new substances. This topic will help children understand the materials around them and how they are used in everyday life.

PE

7ES have PE on Thursdays and Fridays, so the children should come to school dressed in their PE kit on those days and will wear it for the entire day.

Homework

Every Friday, children will receive weekly spellings and a times tables activity as part of their homework. They are encouraged to practice and complete these tasks both independently and with support. Homework should be returned by Thursday, as this is when the tests will take place.
